Amatuli is known for its vast collection of original, unique and handmade products from across the lands. More than just being "king collectors", at Amatuli we think an object without a story is meaningless, which is why we do what we do. We search, we curate, and we present the beauty that can be found in the world.
Beyond the collection of adventures; the pots and cloths, the masks, doors and furniture – Amatuli holds something else at its core…another side. A creative smorgasbord of welding, sanding, and polishing. The spirit of adventure starts here – in our workshop.

The Amatuli warehouse is divided into a few sections which separate their creative mastery; framing, mounting, painting, carpentry, metal work, polishing, and the final product department – packing.
The different departments may specialise in a different textile, but they all hold true to the old adage of; reuse, recycle and recover! Let us shed some light on what goes on behind the scenes in our workshop:
FRAMING
First up, a small, understated, and largely undiscovered department, framing. We make our own frames from old pressed ceiling tin and reclaimed wood; which creates a stylish vintage, or rustic look. For those who want a truly unique and inspiring piece of history in their living space, we create framed mirrors from repurposed 100-year-old Indian doors.

MOUNTING & PAINTING
Mounting sees the creation of stands for our glass beaded necklaces, Indonesian feather and shell necklaces, Benin bracelets and much more. The stands are made to suit the dimensions of each object by Amatuli’s trusted twosome - Mango and Thomas. The mounts are then sprayed and prepped for the final product assembly. This is also where bold and bright colours are painted on another favourite item of Amatuli – Malawi chairs.

CARPENTRY & METAL WORK
In the true style of Amatuli antiquities, we make our own tables, bars, benches, hook boards and shelves out of reclaimed Oregon pine wood. This is also the fixing department for any item which may have been damaged during its travels, but unfortunately the carpentry department is not able to do external repairs.
The metal work department is nothing short of creative mastery at its peak. The team sculpts metal figures from recycled materials to create cows, birds, lights and more – the list is only as long as your imagination.

THE END GAME
And finally, the finishing touches of polishing and packing. Before an item is collected or shipped, it is cleaned and polished, before makes its way to packing where it is wrapped, packed and organised for dispatch.

Amatuli offers endless possibilities when it comes to creating customized pieces.
